Parameter Estimation, Optimization and Inverse Modelling in Geosciences

Aim of this workshop is the presentation of and discussions on recent developments in the field of Parameter Estimation, Optimization and Inverse Modelling in Geosciences. Topics include besides others:

  • Parameter estimation and identification
  • Methods for solving inverse problems in geosciences
  • Optimization methods for geoscience problems
  • Model hierachies and multi-model methods in geosciences


The Scientific Computing Seminar Workshops take place regularly in Kiel and have a long tradition as a follow up to the former GAMM seminars. The previous 3. CSC Workshop "Mathematical Modelling and Simulation of Geophysical Flow Problems" was held in Kiel in June 2007.
